GENERAL FAQs

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO WORK AT ZAMBRERO?

Zambrero knows that it is important to balance the exciting time of entering the workplace with other commitments, such as school, sport and their social life. In addition, we take the safety of our employees very seriously. This means that we have a minimum age of 14 in order to work at a Zambrero outlet, except in Victoria where this is 15 years of age.

WHAT HOURS DO ZAMBRERO OPERATE?

The business hours of our restaurants vary but we generally operate between 11am and midnight. Rostered shifts start from as little as 3 hours and can be at any time across the stores operating hours.

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY?

You will need your email address, personal information, work history and about 15 minutes of your time.

HOW WILL I KNOW HOW MY APPLICATION IS PROGRESSING?

If you are successful in obtaining an interview, a representative from the restaurant will contact you. Due to the high volume of applicants we receive, only successful applicants will be contacted.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE INTERVIEW?

Some interviews last from 15 minutes, whilst others may last up to one hour. This interview may be conducted individually or in a group setting. You should wear something that is clean and comfy to wear. You should bring any required documentation such as your right to work in Australia and if applicable your signed Parental Consent document.

IS THE ZAMBRERO STORE OWNED LOCALLY?

Our network is made up of different people who own and operate our restaurants. Some of our restaurants are owned and operated by Franchise Partners and others are owned by Zambrero. This means that sometimes, things will differ from store to store. Store specific information will be available for successful applicants as part of the onboarding process.

WHAT TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT WILL HAPPEN?

During anyone’s time at Zambrero, they will be trained so that they’ve got the skills and confidence to do a great job. Our learning is a combination of off the floor (e-learning modules) and on the job training. We always encourage everyone to continually learn and develop new skills and abilities that could soon take them to a management position and beyond.

WHAT IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO TAKE TIME OFF?

Specific procedures for taking time off will be different from restaurant to restaurant. Employees should have a chat with the manager or franchisee to understand the requirements. The crew schedule is completed in advance, so employees should try to provide as much notice as possible for planned time off.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS SICK?

We understand that people become unwell from time to time. If your child is sick, they should notify the restaurant as soon as possible to provide enough time to replace the rostered shift. Specific policies will differ from restaurant to restaurant.

WHAT IS MY CHILD EMPLOYED UNDER?

The working conditions at Zambrero are covered by the Fast Food Industry Award 2010. Speak to the franchisee or restaurant manager of the outlet for more information.

If you require more information, you can email us at people@zambrero.com.

HOW WILL MY CHILD BE PAID?

Your child will be paid either weekly or fortnightly, in line with the award. Each restaurant has their own process for obtaining employee details and providing pay slips, which will be discussed at the employee orientation.

HOW OFTEN WOULD MY CHILD NEED TO WORK?

Each employee will be able to set their availabilities to work and the shifts rostered will be within those availabilities. As part of the application process, applicants will be asked to specify their availabilities for each day of the week as well as the maximum number of shifts and hours that they would like to work.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS UNSUCCESSFUL IN OBTAINING A ROLE WITH ZAMBRERO?

If your child isn’t successful in obtaining a role with us, they can reapply at any of our restaurants at any time.
